Praise: A befitting characteristic of the righteous

Psalm 33:1 • “Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright.” (ESV)

Befit. Verb. Be appropriate for; suit.

Praise befits the upright.

Praise is appropriate for the upright. It just makes sense.

Praise suits the upright. It’s refreshing + welcoming. It looks good.

Is your first reaction to praise or to complain? Is your addition to a conversation praiseworthy or disgraceful?

As God’s children, praise should be ever flowing from our lips + our lives.

If it’s not, let’s look @ what James says: “From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.”

Cursing + complaining + divisiveness is ill-fitting for the believer.

It’s praise that befits (is appropriate for/suits) the upright of heart.

Oh, help me, Father!
